Home Base Inc. is seeking a Unit Supervisor to serve families in the Kanawha Valley area. Home Base Inc. offers a competitive benefit package, including health, dental, and vision.


Unit Supervisors are responsible for direct management of regional offices, client relations, DHHR relations, and staff supervision.  Unit Supervisors work to create an agency environment characterized by respect, honesty, integrity, and team work.  Unit Supervisors work closely with field staff to ensure that direct practice is both functionally and ethically sound, as well as with local offices of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to ensure their regional office is continuing to meet the needs of the DHHR.  Unit Supervisors with cooperatively with other individuals in the management team of HBI Programs to improve quality of practice and enhance the reputation of the agency.

HBI Unit Supervisors possess applicable four year degrees, have experience providing direct service to children and families, and are licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in their state of residence.  Applicable four year degrees include Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Interpersonal Communication, Human Services, Education, Criminal Justice, Board of Regents with an emphasis in Human Service, Gerontology, and Family and Consumer Science.  Unit Supervisors must have a CIB and an APS/CPS screen completed with no negative information. Unit Supervisors with Social Work license provide regional practice supervision to staff in other units as needed.



Organizational Placement

Unit Supervisors report to the Director of Development and the State Director of Outreach Services.    




Specific Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


I.                Unit Personnel Matters

A.    Posting positions, conducting interviews, and hiring

B.    Training and mentoring new and existing staff

C.    Issuing reprimands, writing corrective action plans, and terminating employment as necessary

D.    Fostering staff bonding and team building

E.     Personnel file data collection


II.              Staff Supervision

A.    Meeting individually with staff once a month

B.    Reviewing staff documentation and providing feedback monthly

C.    Submitting staff files for review and working with staff to improve scores as necessary

D.    Conducting mandatory staff meetings monthly

E.     Mentoring staff to full time

F.     Encouraging best practice standards in the field

G.    Following up with noncompliance issues


III.            Authorization Management

A.    Entering new referrals

B.    Reauthorizing services

C.    Requesting and following up with needed referrals


IV.            Case Management

A.    Processing new cases

B.    Completing intakes, service plans and discharge plans

C.    Mentoring staff to maximize client compliance and service benefit

D.    Reviewing cases for service and category changes

E.     Tracking case contact


V.              DHHR Liaison

A.    Handling concerns and issues as they arise

B.    Hosting meetings with county DHHR units to provide update and solicit feedback

C.    Delivering documentation semi-monthly to the county DHHR

D.    Creating monthly contact opportunities

E.     Coordinating annual open house

F.     Maintaining and increasing referrals


VI.            Administrative Reporting

A.    Preparing and submitting payroll

B.    Preparing and submitting billing totals

C.    Participating in monthly supervisory meeting


VII.         Quality Control

A.    Conducting random client satisfaction surveys

B.    Working toward agency wide consistency standards

C.    Ensuring cases needs are met by staff

D.    Evaluating internal processes and making recommendations for improvement

E.     Obtaining targeted feedback from DHHR staff regarding areas for improvement

F.     Tracking client outcome data

G.    Tracking efficiency data

H.    Tracking productivity data


VIII.        Office Maintenance

A.    Ensure workplace is clean and safe

B.    Ensure adequate supplies are maintained

C.    Ensure facility is maintained

D.    Ensure the environment is professional and orderly
